How to Use the Flashcards

The main learning activities in this program are digital flashcards. You can use them any way you like–but this is the way to get the most out of them.

Note: Step 1 will change based on the activity you are doing. In the example below (scroll down) you’re looking at the Thai letter and then speaking its name. Other activities will be different. For example, it may say “listen and write the letter you hear.” In any case, the process of using the cards will be the same.

1. Look at the letter on the flashcard and pronounce its name from memory.
   • There will be different instructions here for different activities–just follow whatever instructions are there.
2. Check your answer by flipping the card and listening to the audio.
   • On a computer, click anywhere on the card.
   • On a phone or tablet, tap anywhere on the card.
3. If you pronounce the letter correctly, click on the green “thumbs up” button. If you don’t pronounce the letter correctly, click on the red “thumbs down” button
   • The instructions here will be different based on the activity. The important thing is to use the red “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” buttons, so you can track how you are doing.
   • The green “thumbs up” and red “thumbs down” buttons are looked right below the flashcard (see below)
4. When you finish the deck, you will see a summary page. If you missed any answers, click on the green “Restart Deck” button. Then click the “shuffle deck” button and go through all the cards again.
   • The “shuffle deck” button is the one right below the red thumbs down button.
5. Repeat the process until you get 100% of the answers correct.
   • You won’t get the answers right on your first try–that’s okay!
   • The way you learn is to get the answers wrong. Then complete the activity over and over, improving little by little.
   • All you have to do is keep going through the deck until you can get all the answer correct!
